New York City Chapter

The New York City chapter of American Pilgrims was recognized in May of 2013 and serves the New York metropolitan tri-state area. Broadly stated, the purpose of this local chapter is to keep members connected to the Camino and to introduce new people to the phenomenon. We plan to accomplish this in a number of ways, such as social events, walks, mentoring future pilgrims and serving as a local host for hospitalero training through American Pilgrims.

  • To offer opportunities for local pilgrims to gather and hold events related to the Camino.
  • To mentor future pilgrims, promote the pilgrimage and American Pilgrims through social gatherings.
  • To serve as a local host for hospitalero training in the New York City area.

If you'd like to have your name added to the New York City Pilgrims' e-mail list, please chick HERE. Contact chapter coordinators Janee Waner and Anne Leonard at [email protected] for more information.

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK
Camino Conversations at La Nacional
Wednesday, March 27, 2019, 5:00 - 7:00 PM

Camino conversations on March 27 - come gather with fellow pilgrims in the NYC area!

The New York City chapter of American Pilgrims invites you to our second meet & greet event of 2019 on Wednesday, March 27. Are you planning your first Camino, recently returned and already dreaming of your next Camino, or just Camino-curious? Come meet your fellow pilgrims to exchange ideas, share experiences, ask questions, and more over tapas and drinks at La Nacional, 239 West 14th Street, New York, NY. Stop by anytime between 5 and 7 PM on Wednesday, March 27. La Nacional is the home of the Spanish Benevolent Society, the oldest Spanish cultural institution in the U.S.

Please let us know you'll join us with an RSVP to [email protected]. Can't make it on Wednesday? We plan to host more informal meet & greet events during the spring months. Save the date for our upcoming urban Caminito along the North Brooklyn waterfront on the afternoon of Saturday, April 6. More details coming very soon. Hope to see you there!

Warmly, Anne Leonard & Janee Waner, NYC Chapter co-coordinators

Are you interested in learning more about the Camino?
The New York City chapter Camino Mentor Program can match individuals who have questions about their upcoming Camino with a nearby veteran who can answer questions. Contact [email protected] for details. Experienced Camino walkers and cyclists who would like to serve as mentors should contact us so that you can be added to our resource list. Potential mentors should provide us with your name, ZIP-code and a brief rundown of your experience including walking or cycling, which route and when. Also you can visit American Pilgrims on the Camino on Facebook for great dialogue, photos and a running commentary about the Camino from like-minded pilgrims.
