Albuquerque, New Mexico Chapter

The Albuquerque Chapter of American Pilgrims covers the general area of that city and north central New Mexico. Broadly stated, the purpose of this local chapter is to keep members connected to the Camino and to introduce new people to the phenomenon. We plan to accomplish this in a number of ways, such as social events, hikes, mentoring future pilgrims and serving as a local host for hospitalero training through American Pilgrims.

The chapter will be scheduling local hikes, talks, potlucks, a lending library of Camino-related books, and more! These will be listed here, but you may also want to check the Local Events page for other events that may be of interest. Contact chapter coordinators Linnea Hendrickson and Luana Duggan at [email protected] for more information or to be added to the chapter e-mail list.

If you'd like to be more connected with the who and what of Camino events in Albuquerque, seek out our Facebook page at facebook.com/caminoamigosabq. And we'd love to have you on our email list! Click HERE to complete the brief form to do that!

NAMBE, NEW MEXICO
Chimayó Holy Thursday Walk
Thursday, 18 April 2019, 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM
Nambe Church, Nambe, New Mexico

Join Richard and Pauline Rindone on Holy Thursday as the Albuquerque Chapter makes its way to the Santuario de Chimayó, a Holy Week Pilgrimage. We will meet at the Nambe Catholic Church between 8:30 and 9:00 AM and walk from there. It is a moderate 8.2 miles from the church to the Santuario. The hills are not very steep. Pack a lunch as well as snacks and plenty of water. The Santuario is open, but most of the restaurants are closed.

The walk to Chimayo is an excellent introduction to the Camino experience and an opportunity to make a trial walk with your backpack. Richard will meet us at the Santuario with his SUV to drive us back to Nambe; however depending on the number of people walking, we may need to make another round trip or take another car. Contact us through [email protected] for more information.

SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO

Walk to El Dorado
Saturday, 11 May 2019, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

The Albuquerque Chapter will follow a dirt path from Santa Fe to El Dorado, a moderate walk after you pass the first mile, which is hilly. It is about 7 miles to the paved street in El Dorado. The views are spectacular. Petra Wolf and Pauline Rindone will lead the walk. Pack a lunch or snacks and plenty of water, bring a hat, your backpack and poles if you use them. We will have a car waiting for us in El Dorado, but depending on number of people we may need more.

We plan to have lunch at Cafe Fina (624 Old Las Vegas Hwy, Santa Fe, NM 87505) before heading back to Santa Fe.

Directions to the trail head: Coming, from Albuquerque, exit on St. Francis Drive, veer right and drive all the way to the end of the blinking ights. Turn right and you are on Rabbit Road. Keep going until you reach the railroad tracks after about half a mile. Before the railroad tracks is a parking lot on the left. We will meet here at 9 AM. Please let us know if you are coming. https://www.trailink.com/trail/santa-fe-rail-trail/
