San Diego Chapter

The San Diego chapter of American Pilgrims covers greater San Diego. The purpose of local chapters is to keep members connected to the Camino and to introduce new people to the phenomenon. We plan to accomplish this in a number of ways, such as social events, walks, mentoring future pilgrims and serving as a local host for hospitalero training through American Pilgrims.

  • To offer opportunities for local pilgrims to gather and hold events related to the Camino.
  • To mentor future pilgrims, promote the pilgrimage and American Pilgrims through social gatherings.
  • To serve as a local host for a possible hospitalero training in the San Diego area.

The chapter will be scheduling walks, talks, potlucks and much more! These will be listed here but you may also want to check the Local Events page for non-chapter events that may be of interest. Contact chapter coordinators Sherie Richards and Jane Eguez at for more information.

Talks & Tapas
Saturday, March 11, 2017, 1:00 to 3:00 PM

"The Labyrinth: Preparation for and Unpacking your Pilgrimage"

Linda Fitts who has multiple Camino including Hospitilero experiences will be speaking.

The labyrinth offers a unique opportunity to both prepare for your Camino walk, as well as "unpack" the experience. We will talk about the use of the labyrinth to explore your thoughts and intentions as you prepare for your pilgrimage, as well as how the labyrinth can be helpful in understanding the transformative power of the Camino.

Park at the Liberty Station NTC Parking Lot on Cushing between Dewey and Roosevelt Streets. Follow the yellow arrows and walk to the grassy area where we'll be set up under the white awning!

Bring something to sit on, your favorite tapa, and beverage to share along with your pilgrim spirit!

Are you interested in learning more about the Camino?

If you are thinking of walking the Camino and are interested in learning more, we can pair you with an experienced pilgrim who can answer your questions on how to prepare and what to expect. Just email us at and ask to be connected with a mentor.

Also you can visit American Pilgrims on the Camino via Facebook for great dialogue, photos, and a running commentary about the Camino from like-minded pilgrims.
