Albuquerque, New Mexico Chapter

The Albuquerque Chapter of American Pilgrims covers the general area of that city and north central New Mexico. Broadly stated, the purpose of this local chapter is to keep members connected to the Camino and to introduce new people to the phenomenon. We plan to accomplish this in a number of ways, such as social events, hikes, mentoring future pilgrims and serving as a local host for hospitalero training through American Pilgrims.

The chapter will be scheduling local hikes, talks, potlucks, a lending library of Camino related books, and more! These will be listed here but you may also want to check the Local Events page for other events that may be of interest. Contact chapter coordinators Linnea Hendrickson and Luana Duggan at Albuquerque@americanpilgrims.org for more information or to be added to the chapter e-mail list.

Alternatives to the Camino francés
Thursday, August 2, 2018, 6:00 - 8:00 PM

The much-loved Camino francés is not the only route to Santiago! Many Europeans walk directly from their front door along numerous other well-marked routes that begin in France, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany and various places in Spain. As the Camino francés becomes increasingly crowded, many pilgrims walk these other caminos that are in many ways like the francés before the crowds.

This presentation by the Albuquerque Chapter will include overview of some of these routes and personal accounts from those who have recently walked some of them.
